Meet this months Trade Legend, Gareth Cassin, Engineering
Here at Trade Ledger we have a team of talented and motivated Engineers who have some big goals to hit in 2021. They play a critical role as we continue our journey of revolutionizing business finance by providing the technology and insight to accelerate SME and mid market lending. We asked one of one them a bunch of questions including why he joined Trade Ledger and how he finds life here:
My role at Trade Ledger is:
I’m a Frontend biased Software Engineer. I work with product and design to solve problems and bring the UI and UX to life.
The reason I joined Trade Ledger is:
I joined Trade Ledger to be a part of the transformation of the archaic banking industry using modern web technologies. By doing so we will be able to have an amazing impact on smaller businesses, by removing the traditional funding impediments, allowing them the opportunity to really succeed.
My typical day looks like:
I kick off the day with any cross location catch ups, typically informal or knowledge sharing sessions. The morning is squad focused, with regular sprint ceremonies. This leaves the rest of the day for feature design and implementation, with a sprinkling of pair programming now and again. Outside of my normal BAU, I also get the opportunity to get involved in the Trade Ledger Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Group (Dibz for short). It's such a rewarding group to be involved in and we’re having a big impact on company culture by raising awareness and driving initiatives that promote Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
The reason I love working at Trade Ledger is:
The people are what makes Trade Ledger. They are a talented bunch that are truly passionate about what they do!
The most challenging part of working at Trade ledger is:
Building something that has never been built before is very daunting but also extremely rewarding.
When i’m not working I like to:
Seek out spontaneous adventures, near or far. I’m a passionate foodie, but a disastrous cook.
Any advice you would give to someone considering joining a start-up / scale-up company?:
Roll up your sleeves and enjoy the ride! There is so much opportunity to learn about various technologies and the Fin-tech world. If you love fast-paced environments, with constant change, where you can make a big impact, there is nowhere better!
