Meet this month’s Trade Legend, Kara Neely
Our Product team has some ambitious goals to hit over the next 12 months, as we continue to refine our product offering. They are a dedicated bunch who are committed to designing intuitive software that people love, and they share a big vision on where we want to take our product. Here we sat down with Kara and asked her about why she joined Trade Ledger and how she finds life as a “Trade Legend”.
My role at Trade Ledger is:
Product Designer. I work with a Product Manager to solve customer problems, and work with my squad of software engineers to deliver the solution.
The reason I joined Trade Ledger is:
I had never worked on a SaaS product in the fintech space. I wanted exposure to new problems I had never solved.
My typical day looks like:
I have a catch-up with my Product Manager and the squad. Then I'm either preparing for a user research session, designing UI to deliver to engineers or testing a prototype.
The reason I love working at Trade Ledger is:
There is a lot of space to grow and learn. Everyone is so smart, innovative and open-minded, it's great to co-solve with people who have such diverse skillsets.
The most challenging part of working at Trade Ledger is:
The problem space. It takes a lot of research, talking customers and colleagues who have financial knowledge to understand the problem. But it’s very satisfying to get to a solution.
When i’m not working I like to:
Do pilates, tend to my many plants, go treasure hunting at a market or spend time with my husband and daughter.
Any advice you would give to someone considering joining a start-up / scale-up company?
Drop the idea that there is a static objective. There will be lots of flexibility, change and innovation, and opportunities for you to contribute to it.
